Pongsathorn Posayanonth is a music composer for film and media based in Thailand.
After receiving his Bachelor Degree (with Distinction) in Music Composition at Chulalongkorn University, and his Master Degree (with Merit) in Music Composition for Film and TV at the University of Bristol in 2016; Pongsathorn began his career by composing original music for various screen media including short films, documentaries, and TV advertisements. His early work includes original soundtrack for Wuthering Heights: A Radio Play (2016), a short film directed by Stuart Parkins, a professional British director; Suits, Swine and Sashimi (2016), a documentary directed by Sandy Huang, an award-winning director from Guangzhou; Think On Your Feet (2016), a documentary directed in association with the BBC Natural History Unit by Robert Spanring; and Hydrosyn (2016), a TV commercial commissioned by a Thai engine oil company.
Pongsathorn’s early works demonstrates flexibility and diversity not only in types of screen media he works with, but also in his vast musical styles: from Ambient, Piano, Orchestral, Rock, Synth, to Electronic Dance Music and so forth.
Since 2017, Pongsathorn has moved back to Thailand where he runs his freelancing business and collaborates with a number of talented film directors and indie game developers. Some of the most remarkable works in this period are the original soundtrack of a featured film The Presentation (2018) directed by Anusorn Soisa-ngim; a cover song Stay - Rihanna (2019) produced in collaboration with Tangmo Wanlika - The Voice Thailand artist; and the original soundtrack of the highly acclaimed video game Timelie (2020) by developers from Urnique Studio. Recently released, the Timelie: Original Game Soundtrack album marks Pongsathorn’s first and most successful debut as a video game music composer, with overwhelmingly positive reviews toward the game’s music by presses (e.g. IGN, Gameffine, Windows Central) and players, both regionally and internationally. Currently, Pongsathorn is working on the soundtrack of another Thai indie video game which will potentially be released soon.
Apart from music composition, Pongsathorn also offers a wide range of other services related to music production such as MIDI mockup, backing track production, audio editing, mixing and mastering, to help individual musicians and artists take their production quality to the next level. He also writes and updates articles regularly about film scoring, music production, and music education to help young local aspiring composers and producers gain the knowledge and improve their music production skills.
